Shea trees have been a valuable resource that has provided major food and skin treatments to Natives of Africa for centuries, and are currently being used in a variety of bio industries of the United States and Europe, in pursuit of improving the quality of life.
Shea butter, which contains abundant nutrients including essential fatty acids such as Omega 3 and Omega 6, acts as moisturizing, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, etc.. And the demand for shea butter in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries have been constantly increasing. In the confectionery industry, shea butter is also used as a substitute for cocoa butter in chocolate processing. Despite its excellence of properties, East Africa is not yet diversified in the shea industry compared to West Africa.
